On Friday, April 30th, my two friends and I went to Dry Falls to see how it was this year. I had heard that all the other "selective gear" lakes were doing rather poorly, i.e. Lenore, Lenice, etc.
We got to the parking area around 9 am and found it to be a zoo. Rigs everywhere. It seems that everyone else had heard the same thing about the other lakes recently. By noon there were at lease 50 boats on the water. People had to park 1/4 mile away. My first hour and a half was fishless. I then got a 12" plant. The rest of the day was similar, very sporatic. I mostly got burned by the very nice sunshine.
We tried again on May 1st. We got to the parking lot at 7, thinking we would at least beat the crowd to parking. Not a chance. We ended up leaving and not even trying to fish. We tried another lake in the area and saw dozens of people coming and going without stopping to fish. I think I'll try my luck elsewhere...
