Fishing was pretty good at Blue Lake this year. We just fished from the shore, but had a great time with ample fish. The weather was perfect on the opener and not too bad on Sunday. My kids and I usually fly fish, but they wanted to take some friends this year, so we decided to do the bait thing. They had a blast. This was the first time my kids had actually kept fish - as we usually fish quality lakes and catch and release. Cleaning fish was a new and fun experience for them. Examining the stomach was a real treat. We caught 2 holdovers (about 14 inches and very fat) and noticed they had been eating crawdads. All our fish were taken on eggs and marshmallows (sometimes a little powerbait) to make a trout sandwich as the kids called it.
