We took our new motor out to Spanaway to test it out, and wetted our lines just for the heck of it. Fished in the north end for awhile, and then anchored about 300' off the fishing pier. Soaked some Power Bait and red worms for about an hour without a bite. A young man fishing off the shore north of the boathouse lost a nice rainbow, about 3 lb., when he tried to heft it onto the shore.
We went back the next day and fished Power Bait and worms off the pier and the shore south of the boathouse for about 2 hours without a nibble. The trout are in the shallows, but they're pretty lazy this time of year. The one 3 pounder was the only fish we heard of in the two days.
