Surface temp. at south end of lake, @7:00 P.M., was 72 degrees, measured from float tube. Prolific weed growth and hatches at the surface of the lake, but the only action was watching all the swallows nab these bugs off the water.
Saw one bass thump something from off a lilypad, which was quite a site. One other fish surfaced as I was leaving at 9:00.
Fly-fished with a Krystal WoollyBugger and snagged two of the million (no exaggeration!) stumps in this lake.
Will definitely be back; however, am going to tie some poppers and bass flies first.
For those who haven't been to this lake, be forewarned that access is via a steep bank, brush, and railroad tracks from the west side; and the infinite stumps is a bonus because it keeps motorboats from ruining the fishing; yet fishing the bottom can cost you financially.
See ya there and I hope to get a strike next time.
