Wanted to start getting some trout fishing in so I drove up to goodwin lake. It was raining and a little windy. Fished from 8:30am to 9:40am without a bite. I had taken a ten year old with me and he was getting cold and board. After being asked "what time it was" for the tenth time I said to him that we would fish for 5 more minutes and would go home. The 5 minute passed and he started to pick up our fishing stuff from around the dock ( the boat launch dock at the park, I need to buy a boat some day) just as we started to pick up the poles to bring them in...bam a strike! About a 12 inch trout jumping two feet in the air about 40 feet away. Reeled him in. And for the next hour and a half we ended up with 5 fish, lost two right at the dock, and about 4 or so strikes where we lost bait or just never saw the fish. It was great! The last fish landed was a 17 inch, maybe pound and a half monster that I was sure I was going to lose because I only had 2 pound test line!
Needless to say when the fishing started up the ten year old forgot about being cold...
