Lake Cortez, commonly known as Three Lakes, is a man made reservoir located in the Malaga area south of Wenatchee. While it is a public lake, there is no public access. In addition, no motorized boats are allowed except for electric motors on this 34 acre lake.
The lake is a spiny ray lake but once again, it has no public access. If you do find somebody to let you on their property to fish or launch a boat, I've got to admit that it can be good fishing. In particular, Bass fishing is good from April through early October. Crappie and bluegill can be caught in the summer and early fall. There are also brown bullhead and perch in the lake in smaller numbers, as well as a small amount of Walleye. It's a fun lake to fish, and the continued success that anglers have much of the time in the lake is possibly owed to an ethic of catch and release fishing among most anglers.
By the way, I only caught one Bass today in 30 minutes of fishing, about 10 inches long, but it was fun anyway!
