It was my dad, his fishin buddy, his son, and I at Lake Chelan for the 11th annual chinook salmon derby. Boy, was it slow, heck, not even slow, wasn't going at all! Fished the whole weekend, and not even a bite. Tried everything from squid, hoochies, plugs, spinners, all followed by flashers. Fishin by the bottom, trolling pretty slow. No one around us were producing. 500 entries for the derby, and 11 fish were weighed the first day! Pathetic! The salmon in this lake have too good of a food source. Just tried fishin off shore later with the other kid. Ended up catchin' a 2 lb. smallmouth, and about 5 walleye. walleye were descent. I was just using a split rapala with a barrel weight about 3 feet from the lure and jigged it off the bottom while I retrieved it back to shore. So if your coming here to salmon fish, maybe it will get better, but make sure you make it a camping trip and not a salmon trip.
