My first time to this little pond right on the Washington-Idaho border. The lake is perhaps 5 acres. A very short hike from the road makes it seem very isolated. Perhaps the best part of the trip was the opportunity to fish with a friend who had never caught a fish before. He caught 4 or 5 in a matter of a couple of hours and was thrilled. I fished with a fly rod. Probably caught 15 in the same time period and had perhaps 50 hits on a #16 Royal Wulff. Floated all around the pond in a tube and caught most in the southern 1/3 of the lake, more than likely due to the shadow at that time of the day. The fish were small, between 6 and 12 inches, but they sure kept me busy. Later in the evening we tromped back out and I caught one more. The next day, I floated out a little earlier, and nothing. Who knows what the little critter are thinking? I ran into a fellow later in the day (his van broke down and we gave him a ride to Post Falls, ID) who claimed the lake had given up some big ones in the past. Not this weekend, though.
Getting to this lake is a little tricky. Into Idaho and then back into Washington. E-mail me for directions. E-mail-Address:: jeffw2@mindspring.com
