Got to the lake at about 12:45pm. Except for a pleasure canoer, I was the only boat on the water. Very night launch, not very steep and well maintained. You launch from the west side of the main lake, closer to the south end next to the resort. When I first launched I saw some surface activity at the south end. I didn't get any hits at this end, looks like a nice place for the bass as there was lilies and some underwater weed beds at this end. I rowed around the south end a lil hoping to catch some of the toppers but nothing took. There was sporadic surface action but nothing was biting. I was using a montana stonefly and a royal coachman, both size 6, on the south end. A couple boaters arrived and also some fishing from the launch. About half way up the east side I switched to a black wooly worm, size 8 and headed in to where the water fall is (northeast corner). CAUTION: There is a very shallow sand/rock bar at the two points before entering into the area where th!
e waterfall is. There is a small section that will manage all/most boats that is more toward the north point. Once in the smaller section in the northeast corner I started by rowing around down the west end to the south and caught a nice 11" rainbow which I released. Very bright green top, probably the greenest I've seen on a rainbow. I switched flies a bit and kept rowing around this smaller portion as there was a top every so often. The pass down toward the smaller lake seemed impassable as there was a lot of snags fallen into the water. I watched one rowboat attempt to go through but they came out shortly after. I'll probably try to go in next season. I came back out into the main lake and rowed around the north end to the west shore. At about 3:45 the fish started rising and I caught another nice rainbow on the size 6 black woolley again which I kept as was bleeding very badly from the gills. The activity increased and I switched to the montana stonefly and and caught a couple more which I released. Very beautiful rainbows.
