Fished for Rainbows near Mardon Resort both midday Saturday and Sunday. My two sons were with me, Nathan (8 years) and Wesley (5 years). We were all trolling Flatfish lures (F4 and F5) behind a small silver dodger (4"). Over the course of Saturday we hooked in to about 18 fish with most being 8" to 10" with one nice keeper pushing 21". On Sunday we did not have as much luck though did manage to boat another 6 fish, all on the smaller size. All of our success occurred in front of Mardon's dock and along the Dam for about a mile. We mostly fished in in 20 to 40 feet of water, and we spotting most of the fish marking at about 10 feet. On Saturday we say many schools of 10 to 30 fish on the scope.
our way to
Medicare beach which was free to camp (This is directly across from Mar Don)We were surprised how uncrowded the camp was. Put the boat in around noon and started fishing by the Dam trolling wedding rings and worms. Had no luck with this so we changed to needle fish with a very small peice of shrimp on the hook and the action began. I hooked on to a feisty rainbow about 14" long but weighed in at about a 1 lb (Fat Pink Meated fish.) These fish hit hard and go deep instead of jumping. Caught several more and had to quit because the wind got very bad and had to
pull the boat out. The next day we fished the Lind Coulee arm and had some success catching more of this Fat Rainbows. I would recommend this lake to anyone who wants to catch some nice trout. It's a long drive from Vancouver Wa. but well worth it.(5-1/2 hrs) Hook-em!!
