Arrived at Dry Falls around 7:30 am. Weather was cloudy but
comfortable. Water has cooled significantly. Slight bloom in the top three feet of surface water. Dry Falls is in the process of "turning over". Wind was non-existent in the early part of the day. Fishing was very good during first 2 1/2 hours. Lots of surface activity with cruising slurpers taking emergers regularly. I chose to ignore the surface activity, preferring
instead to fish with a full sinking line. Caught two small fish on a #12 Zug Bug and then settled down to fishing a #16 Dark Hare's Ear while anchored in about twenty feet of water. Using the deep water chronomid technique, my partner and I took 15+ fish in the 16-20 inch range. Fish were in excellent shape, and didn't hesitate when released. Saw a few fish caught and released by other anglers but after talking with others who
finished up about the same time we did, action was generally considered average at best. Fishing slowed for us considerably after the 10 o'clock hour. We left the lake just before twelve as the wind began to pick up considerably.
