Hit the water at daybreak to fish for coho. Per an excellent post over at NWFishing.com from Steelhead Slayer, I came prepared to either jig or troll plugs. I decided to start out with plugs and watch the jiggers to see how they were doing. I fished the Yarrow Pt/ Hunts Pt area. It's real obvious where to fish- you'll see the jumping fish and the boats. The action was totally dead for the first 2 1/2 hours of the morning. I did not see one net go up. At 9:45 I hooked and landed a nice 8-10 pound buck. He hit at 60 feet on the downrigger in 75 feet of water. Hit on a yellow/red steelhead plug. I caught another smaller buck at 10:30, same general area and depth. Stopped fishing at 11am. I plan to take the kids out this evening. I did not see any other fish caught, so thanks to Steelhead Slayer for saving me from being skunked!
