I took a short trip to Lake Washington this morning to see if I could
catch a silver using the info gleaned from here and the forum. I was only able to fish from 8:00 to 9:30. I fished in Yarrow Bay, though it was more north of "Cozy Cove" on my chart. There were about 7 boats there, two jigging and the rest trolling.
I used my light steelhead pole, which has an old direct drive reel and is loaded with 20# proline with some 10# mono on the end for shock. I ran a shiny red wiggle wart with black top and yellow eyes, about 10 feet behind the boat, then 63 feet down on the rigger. I left the pole as loose as I could since it's graphite.
On my first pass I found a pretty good school of fish but had no takers.
On the second or third pass, I got a solid hit and release from the
clip. I reeled down and the fight was on. I got a nice 4-5 pound
buck to the boat. It had the hook nose and colored sides, but the
meat still looks good for the smoker!
I had one other hit and release, but didn't hook up. I think I could
have got more hits if I had more time to spend. They are still there, even if most are moving further north up the lake!
