First time to rattlesnake lake and was pretty impressed! Had a couple of hours to kill before heading off for father's day dinner, so took the float tube. Thanks to this website and all the posts, I knew what to fish and where (woolybuggers @ the far end of the lake around the stumps). Was trolling with a beadhead woolybugger with a single splitshot (the smaller fly fishing variety) when a fellow tuber told me (while reeling in a fish!!) to GO DEEP. I put 4 more splitshot on, dropped a bunch more line, and within 5 minutes I'd hooked my own!
Kicked around for maybe another 30 minutes without a bump, so I thought I'd check to see if I still had a fly on the end. Well, the fast strip attracted a fat 'bow and after a bit of a fight I'd reeled in (AND RELEASED) a very, very nice 14" fattie.
Next time I'll bring my little 14' aluminum rowboat so I can troll faster and not have to work so hard!
So my friends, go wooly and go deep. And go barbless and catch & release so we can catch 'em again tomorrow...
