Got out for 1/2 day of fishing seeing how the season is ending tomorrow for this lake. Got to the lake about 2:15 pm and the weather was cold and foggy to say the least- was about high 30's. Had my first hit within 8 minutes on a green wooly bugger. Missed this one, but was a good hit. Had my next hit in about 5 more minutes. Missed this one too. I then had a powerful hit that felt like a stump but then started screaming my line out- ended up breaking off my fly. By the time I finished at 5 pm I had caught 6 fish and missed 3 with several more really good hits. Fish measured:
1-11"; 2-12"; 1-13"; 1-14", and a really nice 16" to finish off the season for me. All were caught on this same pattern with the exception of the 14 incher that was taken on a Carey special. Talked to a gal on the shore that said the WDFW had released a few broodstock in the lake about 3 weeks ago but no confirmed reports about this. This 16 incher was the largest I had ever taken from this lake so who knows what broke off my fly on 4X tippet????? Please remember the season ends 10/31/00. Hopefully these fish that I released will be nice and fat for next season!
