I did not get to carl's until noon. No rises evident. Last fall this lake was hot from time to time.
I tried a variety of things, with floating and sinking lines.
The only action I could get was on a Green woolybugger and a Prince dropper. Both flies would get strikes when fish in combination. All at once, about 3p.m. the fish woke up. With that bugger and prince it took about 7 fish within an hour. 11"-16" rainbow.. These fish still know how to put on a show. Very acrobatic when hooked. The biggest I took last fall was 13"-14". I can't wait 'till spring. There should be some good 17"-20" fish by then! I hooked one that could have been in that range. It broke my 4x tippet. I'm not sure if it was my fault or just a big fish! I don't usually "Billy Bass Master" it when I set a hook, but ???maybe??? maybe I was a bit too aggressive.
Good Luck to All!!
