We really didn't go to Riffe to fish, instead we wanted to check out the reports of the lake being so low. We did check out the Mossyrock park boat launch, it seemed like about three blocks to the water. Maybe that's a little exaggerated, but, it is definitely a long ways. If you were planning an launching a large boat, you will need plenty of horsepower to pull the boat out. The ramp seems pretty good, even at the lake end. Anyway, the lake didn't look to appealing,I think we will wait until the water level comes up a little.
We also, visited Swofford Pond, not far from the park. We got there just in time to see a couple of guys land a very nice German Brown, about 2-3 pounds. So, naturally, we got the lawn chairs out and tried a little fishing ourselves. The German Brown was caught on a minnow, but, the Game Warden we talked to said, just stick with a nightcrawler on the bottom. Well, Saturday was really hot, so, we didn't fish long. We did manage to tip a few brewski's, and caught one very nice rainbow, about 2 pounds. That happened to be the only other fish we saw that day. It was very late in the afternoon, and we left around 3:00 P. M.
We plan to go back and get a little more serious, I have the opinion, there are some very nice German Browns in the lake.
Access is very good, and for those of you who don't have boats, the lake is pretty shallow, and affords good bank access for you or your kids.
