I took my ladyfriend trolling for the usual 10-12 inch Fishtrap rainbows. For the first hour and a half I only operated the motor and released her fish; however, her gloating about the number of fish she had caught versus the zero I had caught finally prompted me to catch up. We finished the day having caught and released 23 rainbows a piece. My ladyfriend caught a nice 15 inch holdover, and I caught a hideous broodstock rainbow that was 20 inches long and about 4 pounds. All fish were caught trolling flatfish and egg-sucking leeches except for three I caught stripping in leeches. The fishing was very fast. For those of you who don't know, the Fish and Wildlife Department feeds bovine growth hormone to these fish. There's something that just isn't right about genetically altering fish to produce slightly larger rainbows in order to boost license sales. For those of you who eat them, you're only hurting yourselves; the meat fishermen will soon deplete the populations of the local lakes, and for what?
