Made a quick stop in the afternoon on my way home from coho fishing out in the saltwater. Flush motors and check out the kokanee action at the same time...!
Ran my usual gear, wedding ring spinner and 4/0 dodger with a string of spinner blades on the downrigger ball. Fished from 20 down to 35 feet in the normal pattern on the east side of the lake. Caught a lot of small 7-10 inch rainbows. Caught two or three small kokes in the 8-9 inch range and one nice 12 incher, which I took home.
There were a lot of blips on my sounder down around 60 feet, but I
didn't spend much time down there, as I usually don't have to go that deep for kokes here. Unless the kokes were down deep, I didn't have nearly the success I usually do. I wonder if the increase in limit to 10 has had a bad effect on the population?
Great afternoon, though. Few skiers who stayed mainly on the south end, leaving me in peace! I'll have to try some morning for a real indication on success!
