I had a little bass fever built up from watching too much TNN Outdoors Sunday night, so at 5:10 in the evening I loaded up my float tube, fins, waders, 2 rods and tackle all on to my 20" BMX bike. After the difficult 1/2 mile bike ride with several falls, I arrived at the boat launch. I tied on a Heddon Tiny Torpedo on one rod and a 4-inch black and chartreuse texas-rigged plastic worm on the other, and set off. I caught my only bass in the 2 hours I was there on a lily pad edge in about 6 feet of water in the corner of the big end of the lake straight across from the boat launch. The 17" largemouth took my Black and silver Tiny Torpedo at 6:15 fished extremely fast about 4 feet off the edge of the pad field. I was surprised, because he hit about four feet from my tube when I was reeling in line fast because of a bad cast into open water. He peeled off line, but then ran straight back at me and actually jumped up on to my tube. That was a first. After unhooking him, I released the scrappy little guy to be caught another day. I also had a hit at about 7:00 on a blue and yellow buzz bait fished underneath a broken dock, but I missed it. All in all not a bad day, but I discovered that my waders have a leak in them, and I filled up with water after about 10 minutes of being there.
