Fished Mason lake on Sunday afternoon the 22nd with some friends for a few hours for kokanee. We had heard there was a fair number there, so we thought to give it an early try. More to scope out the bottom terrain then anything else. Once we found the deep part of the lake we got lots of bites from small fish, but could not hook them with even size 8 bait hooks. We finally manage to get one kokanee in after 30 minutes of them swiping our bait quite regularly. It was only 6 inches long, though it put up a good fight. Hopefully there are some big ones in the lake and that we only just came upon a school of small ones. There was one other boat out also that was trolling for trout all day and managed to get one 8 inch rainbow in. We will keep trying the lake through the spring and summer month.
