Fished for about 3 1/2 hours today - had the entire lake to ourselves. (maybe because we were the only guys stupid enough to be out in a float tube in 39 degree water?)
The gate on the access road is closed for the winter, and there is only one place to pull a vehicle off the main road to park in front of the gate. Some leftover snow all around the lake, and there was a thin sheet of ice bordering the SE shoreline of the lake.
Fished a type III sinking line with an olive carey bugger (size 10). "Trolled" on a very slow kick, I managed to hook one 16" rainbow. VERY sporadic emergence of tiny brown midges (size 24-28), with several fish rising periodically. Intermittent rain showers and BUTT COLD WATER.
Seems like finances are the overriding concern at Cady right now. Lots of signs up listing the annual expenses the Manor has paid to keep the lake operating, and how many of us fishermen aren't donating any money. I didn't like the way the signs were worded - made it sound like anyone who fishes the lake without making a substantial donation was a deadbeat or something.
