I went fishing on St. Clair on the morning of 7/25. The lake had just the been stocked with very large brood stock rainbows the week before. Unfortunately, every hick with a boat in a 20 mile radius proceeded to wipe out the fishing for these large fish in a matter of a week, incredibly taking the fishing from the best its been in years to worse than average. Me and my father trolled for trout from about 6 AM until about 10AM and only caught two fish, although we missed a couple of hits. One was a large fish, about
18 inches, but the other was a typical 10 inches or so. I tried bass
fishing with a Rapala later that afternoon with mild success. If things get slow on this lake, fishing with worms in the lily pads never fails to produce easy hits from the hordes of panfish, excellent for kids.
