We, myself and two friends, got on the lake at about 11:00.
It was windy when we started and the wind increased through
out the day until we quit at 4:00. Difficult fishing at best.
Attempted chironomids but anchor consistently broke loose,
Most of my time was spent holding on to my hat, getting the
raft back into position and grabbing one thing or the other before it
blew overboard. Some fish picked by others trolling nymphs deep.
We didn't have any success and finally called it a day.
Returned early Sunday morning at 6:30. Conditions were
much better and we had an enjoyable day. Caught 10
between the three of us. Two on peacock Carey Special
and 8 on green chironomids fished in 8-10 feet of water
in the back bay. Those with better developed skills and
more experience did considerably better on chironomids.
Our biggest fish was 19" and we had several others from
16" to 18" all in good condition that put up good
fights.
