My wife Chris and I (Mike Mielke) are co-owners of the Sprague Lake Resort. There is another resort on the lake and it is called Four Seasons Campground.

Even though we had some bad press about some algea a couple of weeks ago, thanks to a slow couple newsdays for the media, and an over-zealous newcomer to the lake. A lot of noise has been made over something that happens every year. Sprague holds many different species of fish including trout, bluegill, crappie, bass, walleye, perch, channel catfish, and bullhead. People are catching trout, walleye and crappie right now. Trout are being taken with Powerbait and a worm. Crappie are biting on beetlespin, walleye have been fooled by beetlespin bass plugs and trolling with bottom bouncers.

Usually this time of the year bullheads are easy to come by, but no one has been fishing for them. Sprague is easy to reach with plenty of fishing to keep even wives happy! If we can help anyone, let us know.

Editor's Note:
I lived for a year in Spokane back in 1986 and have some fond memories of catching lunky rainbows out of this lake. I moved and since then the lake was stocked with several new species, including walleye. The algae that Mike mentioned in his report occurred when I was there too. No big deal. This is a great lake to fish. I wonder how big those walleyes have gotten with all the food in the lake?
