My buddy and I arrived at the lake around 11 and shortly after
getting settled, we set out to to our "spot" for some fishin'. Of course,
the wind picked up and had to put about 100 lbs. of weight down to hold us.
My buddy hooked into a nice 3 lb.'er right away, (around 21"!!) but released
it thinking this was going to continue. NOT. The wind blew so hard, we
didn't even know we had bites until the pole went down. We didn't catch
anything larger than 10" the rest of the day, and headed back to camp
somewhat discouraged. The same scene for Friday. Lots of wind and little
fish. BUT, Saturday, we woke up with clear skies and calm so decided to try
trolling. I'm glad we did, because we located an area that obviously the
larger trout were hangin' around. We hooked one right after another that
were all around 16" to 20". We caught 17 total and took home 10. It didn't
matter what we used....power bait in various colors, Dick Nites, triple
teasers. (didn't try pop g!
!
ear..too heavy for our noodle rods.) If the wind would have behaved the
other 2 days, we probably would have had more success catching the larger
holdovers. Overall, the trip was a blast and we will go back. Why not?
The people at the Jamison Lake Resort are very nice people and make you feel
welcome. They need pay showers though...3 days with hat hair sucks.
