I have been fishing Newman for some years now and can honestly say I have never been more disappointed. The lake looks like mud, and the fishing has not been good for Bass at all. Over the last month I have spent about 12 days on the lake and have only caught one bass, not worthy of a picture. Plenty of bass found dead though. Not only bass, but perch and bullheads floating all over the lake, the water smells of dead fish. A recent report stated lack of oxygen in the water, I find this hard to understand.. No more weeds in the lake than any other year, but the story has it, due to more plant life, less oxygen?
Along with way to many jet skiers and "look at me go" boats, I think Newman could be in for hard times when it comes to fishing. I love this lake, it is a great practice lake, but it's not much fun when you get home and your boat smells of dead fish, your wife tells you to get that stinky boat out of the garage and you have 50 cats at your front door step, and of course, your out of beer. Oh the life of a fisherman. I am not going to give up on this lake quite yet, so when I have tried it again, I will let you know what I find.
By the way, anybody want a cat?......"Keep your line wet"...
