I fished the lake for 3 hours on Friday and 6 hours on Saturday.
I hooked my first fish on Saturday around 11:00.
I had spent quite a bit of time working the shoreline with
an intermediate line and various nymphs but the fish were
right on the bottom. They wanted the flies deep and slow at
least I had to go slow in order to get it down to the bottom and the fish.
Once there, the action was pretty good. If I located one fish
there seem to be others feeding in the same area. A repeat pass
would generally yield more takes. Location seemed to be much more
important than pattern. I caught fish on damsels, TDCs
and Chrystal Buggers. All were in the 12" - 14" range and
very strong and colorful.
Amber is a great little lake; clean facilities, and in my experience responsible and friendly fishers.
