We had our 30th annual family reunion at windmill lake this year.
30 years ago we started our reunions at Hampton lake. then it was closed to camping. than we took up camping at canal lake. It was closed to camping because someone was shooting cattle. So for the last three years we have camped at windmill lake, what a great lake. We caught and released lots of nice fish 8 to 10 inches long, and let the kids keep each first fish they caught. Our uncle barney caught one big fish about 14 inches in canal lake next door. While out in our boat fishing we discovered something in the middle of the lake in 38 feet of water. It was a man made object about 2 feet under the surface of the water. It turned out that it was a windmill under the water!!
which is how we figured this lake got its name. When you first see it,
it is kind of spooky. If you want to see the windmill and you have a
GPS the coordinates are 46 degrees 55.99N by 119 degrees 10.41W
If not, It's right about in the middle of the lake good luck its worth a look see.
