I've never had a March day like this on Lake Lenore, and I've been there enough to know my success today wasn't a matter of skill, but a matter of luck and timing.
I arrived at the lake under partly cloudy skies, variable winds, and a cool mid 40's afternoon. There was not another soul to be seen on the five mile long lake.
I started pitching some spinners and spoons and was soon rewarded with a small (14 inch) Lahontan Cutthroat that I lost before I could get it to the net. The next fish made up for it though, all five pounds of him! Things got interesting after that. The proverbial bite was truly on. Fishing for an hour and a half, I hooked and fought 13 Lahontan Trout between 14 inches and a solid six plus pounds in size. Of those, I caught and released 10 of them. Not bad for single, barbless hooks
Days like this are truly few and far between. It was great to have one today!
