First time taking my wife out fishing on the new to us boat. We got a late start (9:15) and spent around 15-30 mins just teaching her about downriggers, clips, setbacks, baitcasting reel, depth, and managing it all together. Thankfully she learns quickly :)
Started to really fish around 10am. Started north of the weather buoy, and stayed north of it for most of the morning. Picked two cutts, with one 18" bruiser in the first 90 mins. She hooked into a super far Koke that was quickly released (Regs require all Kokanee to be released). I lost a cutt at the boat since I didn't have the net and my wife quickly learned that when I say I need the net, there isn't much time to wait. Later on I caught my first hatchery coho! Great first two hours of the day. Started to head back south to the boat launch. After we passed the buoy, I was cleaning and packing up when my wife's rod went off! Her first cutt on Sammamish! Immediately after netting the fish, my wife sees my rod go off. She also brought that one in while I took care of the first fish of essentially her double! Since she learned the ropes, we dropped both lines back down while I went back to packing up. Her rod pops the clip this time! Great fight and ends up being a another beautiful koke that swam off quickly after releasing. Off the water around 2PM

Overall went 5/8 on the day. All 8 came to the boat and only one was actually lost. Two were released. Amazing day on the water for us.

Hopefully these next few storms pass quickly and we can get back out on the water. Only gave the day a 4 since others seemed to be struggling. Many people we talked to only had 1 bite on the day by late morning.
