Spent the weekend at Rattlesnake again and of course it was more of the same....lots and lots of stocker RBT. I mean like my record high for the lake on Saturday.

There were a few things different though so I thought I would share them with ya. The HOT lure was any Mag Lip 2.0 in a Gold color. Sooons slowed down but Tazzi’s we’re doing OK too!

The other was that I picked up a monster on Saturday that was 20-24” and 4-5 lbs. Again near the Eagles Tree. Such a fun fight on my UL gear. (Lamiglas UL Infinity and Shimano Stratic CI4+ Paired with Power Pro Yellow 10 lb main and 4 lb Maxima Leader) As you can see from the pic that I use Yakima Baits set up of a double split ring to a # 6 Gama Siwash.
Had a small boat of 3 angler see the action up close and I get the “nice fish, whatcha using” comment and of course I told em. Not sure if they knew what I was talking about.

The bite was super strong from 11:30am to about 2pm and pretty darn good at 7am till about 8:30am. Those were actually the lunar windows if anyone uses those by chance.

As for the Fly guys....which I am at this lake at times....it was super slo for them. The only fly guy I saw catching was a guy in a tube stripping fast after his cast. Most were working their fly super slow with little results.

When it was really on, there was some wind and I tend to find myself rowing much faster than when it’s calm. I feel these fresh planters want a faster presentation. Even the big fella took on a much faster pace as I was rowing away from the small boat that I was side by side with along the shore line.

Since I have put some time into this lake I feel like it’s doing well. There was a lot of negativity about the lake when I first started reading about it back in the fall of 2016 when I started Lake fishing. I feel pretty good to say that their reproducing and based on the monster that I caught that they are growing well also.

If you don’t get there early, good luck at parking on a weekend is the only negative that I can say about this lake.

Once you're on the lake, it can be a fun fishery, if somewhat hit-or-miss. The parking is definitely the biggest downside, as folks don't allow any room for trailers, even in the marked trailer locations. I always have to drive past the boat launch one time, circle around to see if there is parking, and then go back to the launch and get the boat in the water before the parking space disappears. I've never seen any kind of parking enforcement there, so people just leave their vehicles wherever.

I've had decent luck trolling a fly behind a dodger on the lake, but never tried plugs/crankbaits. I'll have to give that a whirl. I have a really cool little plug that works okay on Langlois.

MV, an Olive Wolly killed it at Langlouis last April/May for me but my spinning gear set ups we’re cursed at this lake for some reason. Try tossing a Crappie Magnet along the whole shore line for loads of LMB action, granted none were to big though.

Quick question for the usual anglers at this lake. I'm thinking of making a trip out there this weekend 4/6 or 4/7. Never been out to rattlesnake lake. I'm in Sammamish and they haven't stocked beaver lake yet. wondering if this would be an okay lake for myself, my two young boys and another dad and his two young boys. I've got a 12ft portabote. great setup for trolling beaver lake. also like to drop anchor and have them fish off the bottom. Or even with bobbers in certain low depth spots. Would this lake be a little tough for them? landing fish, or even hooking them? thanks in advance.

Although Rattlesnake is a pleasant place to fish from boat, for your situation it does not sound like an ideal place to take the kids. The lake has "selective gear rules" in effect, so no barbs, bait or scent. If you want to take anything home the limit is 2 fish over 14" and most of the fish at the moment don't measure up to 14". Additionally, there are stumps throughout the lake from early logging in the area, so trolling too deep or bottom fishing could result in snags. If you're looking for an alternate place to Beaver to take the kids in a boat, you might consider Lake Alice. FWIW.

I agree, in addition it can get quite windy and rough at Rattlesnake if the forecast shows for winds more than 6-7 MPH.

thank you kind anglers for the following feedback. It appears I've been blessed with a stocking at beaver lake. Hopefully I can find a weather window this weekend to take the boys out.

I still want to adventure out to rattlesnake. probably not this weekend though with the windy weather forecast.

My two fishing buddies did a great job at answering your questions. I personally would not even suggest Beaver but there is a small window that I would and I’d be more than happy to PM you when that might be ( could be anyday now) and suggest a way to suggest a way that will make you day be one that you and the kids will never forget.

thanks for the PM. I'm headed out tonight to make sure I've got everything from the sporting goods store and am ready for the weekend.

Nice fish!! I could be wrong but could that fish possibly be one of thousands of steelhead smolts planted a few years back??
