Fishing for Walleye was very slow and then it stopped when the wind blew us off the Lake! We were jigging at a depth of a 140' deep and this young man ended up landing this Northern Pike! This was the fourth Northern Pike caught in the last week right between Gifford and Clover Leaf campground; right off the sand flat on Lake Roosevelt. Gifford has usually been very productive for Walleye and has not been so productive lately and more and more Pike are turning up instead. This one I cleaned today had a stomach full of small Walleye and a full sack of eggs ready to be spawned. Anyone looking to catch Pike-this is the area to fish. Good Luck and good Fishing everyone!!!

Did you turn the head in for the bounty?

I'm guessing that pike gave your client a far better fight and fishing experience than a walleye of the same size.
That said, it's good to see it removed from Roosevelt. With water levels down at this time of year, (spawning time) it's likely the fish would not have found a suitable place to deposit her eggs and get them fertilized. Not much chance for successful reproduction in my opinion.
