With the snow finally melted and the lakes finally thawed, I went to my favorite spot for some prespawn Largemouth action and I was not disappointed. The weather varied between was partly cloudy, and fairly breezy, with temperatures were in the mid sixties. I ended up catching five Largemouth between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm.
It has been three years since I landed a Largemouth over five pounds, and today was the day to do it. I reeled in a chunky 5.82 pounder, as well as a 3.65, 2.64 and a few around a pound and a half. I was fishing with a quarter ounce Black Jig with a five inch plastic grub attached. I had many other strikes, but was only able to hook up with these five. The good thing is that I did not lose any of the fish I actually hooked into.
Today was a great reminder that spring has finally found us and the bass action for the year has started. Tight lines my fellow anglers.
