I'm giving this trip a 3 even though the fish were pretty tight lipped. We put in at Gifford around 11:30 or so and motored down lake to our first spot. We fished from 90' out to 165' and found only one walleye and three burbot all day, but the weather was terrific and the the wind calm. These were the first burbot we have ever caught so we kept the two biggest and will be trying them out this week. My transducer was telling me that the water temp at the surface was a tad over 35 degrees, but another gentleman I spoke to said his showed it being a bit colder than that. We jigged a variety of different plastic baits with our best production coming on one ounce green jig heads with a purple plastic with chartreuse tail. With the forecasted temps this week we should be seeing the bite heat up soon, I would think. Good luck and tight lines!

Catching a new species is awesome no matter what the size. Burbot is still on my bucket list. Congrats and thanks for the report. Beautiful place out there!

Could not agree more! New method of fishing for us too. We are just learning the ins and outs of jigging for walleye and burbot deep.

Thanks for the update! I will be out on the Taco Barge tomorrow with my son chasing them around again. Have to decide if we are putting in at Ft. Spokane or Gifford...
