After a poor ( by Lake Roosevelt standards) outing at Keller on Monday, I expected to do better today at the confluence. Nay nay. Not to be. Launched at Ft Spokane about 9 am and headed straight to the split rock area where we have had great success in recent outings. Tried all the usual lures and methods. No bites. Two lead core lines and one downrigger with the usual perch or orange (or several other offerings) got no action for an hour and a half. Finally pulled a nice 17" plus triploid on the downrigger with a perch fly. After another two hours with no bites we headed downriver to the confluence and fished the east shore north of the confluence. No bites. Headed to Hawk Creek. Same story. Ended the day with one trout and three half hearted taps on the lures. Talked to a couple of fishermen trolling with downriggers and planer boards over deeper water. They were having similar success. Talked to a couple of guys fishing walleye across from Seven Bays. They had two or three fish to show for four or five hours effort. Only marked five or six fish on the finder all day. Thought maybe they were in top water and not viewable on the graph, but fishing shallow didn't change the result. Wish I knew where they go to hide. I should give the trip a 2 just for the nice day on Roosevelt. Good fishing day. Poor catching day. Going to take a break for a while till I see some better reports.
