Got on the water a little bit late this morning, around 9am, but it didn't matter. Search around the east side of the lake for a bit, but did not see much on the sonar. I did pick up a few, but headed down towards the west end. I actually tucked into the cove on the northwest portion of the lake before you get to the island, and found fished piled up between 30-40 feet down. Stayed there the rest of the morning until I decided to pack it in for the day. Landed around 15 fish, keeping 5. Key was to keep circling back over top of the large schools that I marked.

On 1 line I ran a pink top Elgin Fishing Gods Tooth Spoon rigged kokanee style (cutthroat like this rigging as well. Check out the Elgin Fishing website for different rigging methods). I used 16 inch leader on this behind a Macks Lures Double D dodger. On the other line I ran a 50/50 brass Gods Tooth Spoon straight out of the package set on fast action. Both lines got about equal action today. Fish were caught anywhere from 25-40 feet down, but most came at about 33 feet.

Video shows most of the action today, including a couple of doubles, and I go over both the gear I had in the water, and the gear I wear during these colder months.

It was definitely a postcard type day. Everything was about perfect.

Did you notice the NW corner being a tad warmer water than anywhere else? Same deal in the Spring, the NW corners always warm up first due to the angle of the sun. The last time I was out it seemed 1-2 degrees warmer in the NW than anywhere else.

Really scenic lake. Samammish cutts run about 3-4 inches larger on average. I am usually fishing mornings, but after 2pm can be lights out. Fish seem to start feeding on the surface about that timenthis time of year.

Nice. I fished Big Lake for cutts a few weeks ago but the water was horrible. All of my gear and lines were getting slimed up with junk. I may have to go back again if its cleared up. I didn't target kokes at all, but I was at Cavanaugh about a month ago and did target Kokes, about half we caught we kokes and the other half kokes.
