Launched out of Hunters and started trolling at the point of Hunters Creek and kept going south on the east side of the lake. Did not hit any fish for the first mile or so. After the first mile of trolling the hits were light and short and the fish would not commit to a solid hook set trolling south. I then turned around and started trolling back north and caught 2 Rainbow trout decent size and missed about 3 others. I was trolling with a 1 and 2 ounce inline weight back behind the boat 120' and 130' back. For whatever reason it was today I could only catch them with a good solid bite heading north against the current. Whenever I trolled with the current the fish would just tag my bait not making a good solid commitment. I was using corn and crawler with the common dodger and fly. Orange and green were the colors the fish favored today. Area I was fishing was between Hunters and Fruitland on the East side of the Lake. Good luck everyone!

The way it sounds by comments here and elsewhere on this forum, that kokanee may beginning to bite. The non committal bites sounds more like kokanee rather than trout. Or at least I hope so as I would like to see the kokanee bite pick up. Thanks for the report.

We fished today and could only get the fish to bite on down riggers at much deeper depths from 30'-50'. Yes I do agree the short hits yesterday could of very well been Kokanee I hope been pretty quite the last couple years. I hope they make a comeback on Roosevelt!

Thanks for the report and the information. I have never fished up around Hunters, keep saying I will and then go back to the Arm where I know my way around a bit better. Sure hope you guys are right about a possible Kokanee bite. Can't say I am confident but I'm pulling for you. Any thoughts about the lack of reports down stream from Lincoln. Seems like if there are Kokanee around anywhere it would be down by Keller. My last trip down there was pretty slow back in early October and it seemed that most of the reports were from Hawk Creek up so I moved up there. Been doing OK on RB but have never caught a Koke up there even when they were fairly abundant. Be great to have them back.
Stay after them.
