Wanted to try something different so decided to hit up big lake for a couple hours before work. Got on the water at first light about 730. The fog was super thick and didn't burn off till almost 11, but the sun was shining through it. I decided to start on the far right flat from the launch and fish the pads. Visibility was about 2 to 3 feet. A big improvement compared to what clearlake was a couple days ago. I started by alternating between pitching a jig and throwing a crank and a drop shot. I worked my way all the way down the far side pitching docks and then fishing deep and pitching docks again. Nothing! I worked sections of the far shore power fishing in a slow moving bait manner. After getting to the nookachamps I went back to the pads and decided to just focus on my crank. Finally bam, I got hit and it was big. I realized pretty quick it wasn't a bass, but I still had to do a double take after getting it in the boat. I'm not sure how common it is to catch salmon in big lake but I was pretty amazed by it. No fish after that called it a day went to work.
