I spent 4 hours at redondo pier last night (this morning) jigging for squid. Many small to medium sized schools of mostly large squid came through from 1:30 am to 5am. As mentioned by another member's report previously, many of the squid swam in large circles through and around the lights, but generally were not interested in jigs. A few could picked up from each school, then they were gone. Very odd behaviour. Normally, redondo squid will be caught right at the bottom, but these squid were mostly caught in the upper half of the water column. Many were caught by sight fishing. I shared the dock with three people throughout the night. I ended up coming come with 7 pounds, best catch of the year for me.
