This report is a bit late. I saw that WDFW had a rainbow stocking at Grandy earlier in October so started thinking that it may have sparked some interest in the bass for some larger swimbaits. We hit the lake and spent a fair amount of time dragging some bigger rainbow and crappie swimbaits through the water. Nobody wanted to play.

Most of the pads are gone but we worked the shoreline under the trees and logs, as well as by the pilings and edges of the remaining pads. We caught one 12" bass on a blue/black Senko. Cranks were actually pretty effective, but it was rainbows up to 20" or so that provided the action. It was fun to watch them charge 10-15' to grab a crankbait just as it got to the boat. We released them all for some of the dedicated trout guys to have fun with.

Great info.....I have been eye balling this lake and to hear about that size of fish might make the drive worth it as I like to troll crankbaits

The trout in this lake are crazy aggressive and also aren't afraid of being in 2 feet of water or under a log where you think a bass would be. I've had one even blow up on my a spook.

Thanks for the report on Grandy Lake - It brings back some fond memories. I fished it a few times and stayed overnight at the campground. Caught some bass too - The best was an 18 1/2 incher that weighed 3 pounds, 3 ounces. That fish hit a white power grub on June 19, 1992.

Looks like the lake will be open this weekend....question for those in the know....how well protected is the lake from the wind? Are there any small small pocket areas that are protected that produce fish? Long drive to end up being blow off on my pontoon.

Sorry for the delay in responding TM. Grandy can get some wind from either end. You can find calm water in a couple of areas along the shore, however. The trout are all over the lake so you can have a good day if it isn’t blowing too hard.
