Well, I goofed, I thought the Whatcom tournament was LAST weekend. Imagine my surprise when I turned into the parking lot at Bloedel at 6:01 and there were already five rigs in line! AIS was back too!
Realized my goof instantly and pulled up straight to the inspection station. Got launched and just fished out in front of the launch area as it was still dark. About 30 minutes of that and I motored across to throw some topwater.
Daylight was coming as the tourney launched and I soon found myself fairly surrounded by boats as I was in a popular area. I boated one just over three pounds on a drop shot and it was a super soft bite. I lost a nice one about ten minutes later and decided to bug out and go explore other places.
Headed south and east. Drop shot around the tops of laydowns in 20-40 feet produced about a dozen fish from 1-2.5 pounds. It also cost quite a few DS rigs.
This is my last Lake Whatcom trip for this season unfortunately. Would love to get back up there Wednesday but I don't think it will happen.
Kind of wish I would have targeted largemouth somewhere else today.
