My 11 year old granddaughter and I arrived at the lake at noon and fished until 2 PM when I broke her fishing rod.
We fished from the dock on the north side of the Seattle Park Department boat house. We caught about a dozen and a half 6 to 8 inch bass on green, yellow and brown spinners with brass blades (silver blades were unproductive). Standing at the end of the dock and casting back towards the boat house and along the sunny side the dock we were able to get a strike on almost every cast. Most of the fish were hiding under the dock.
The big excitement of the day came when I was casting on the shady side of the dock back towards the shore. Just as I was about to pull my lure from the water a 17 inch rainbow shot out from under the dock and took the lure. She put up a mighty struggle, but she was destined for the dinner table. Actually, I would have released her, but she had a damaged gill plate and was hooked in the tongue and bleeding badly.
Green lake is a little known gem, especially for fishing with kids.
