The end of the season is all too near. We took advantage of the sun and low wind and trailered to the lake. It still has not risen and made launching the boat a challenge but we offloaded and then motored to the rocks so P. and K. could get in. We fished 11:45-4:00pm. It was plenty chilly but a joy to be fishing. Mostly fishing, not catching. LOL.
Within the first thirty minutes P. landed a decent rainbow on our trout troll. I had two small hits but no connects. Poor K. just smelled skunky all day. We found a sheltered area to reheat the sloppy joes P. prepared the night before and had our on-board picnic. After lunch we explored the super low shorelines and marveled at how different the lake looks this low. Despite switching lures many times K. couldn't find a bite. I finally got a mini bass and P. followed suit with an even smaller one. But we were catching! P. showed us who was king landing another bow. We covered 2/3rds of the lake but learned after we had left the lake that we missed the exciting third where kokanees are staging to go upstream at some point. It would have been fun to see the schools of red/black fish ready to start their cycle.
Maybe we'll get one more trip in before the end of the month and more memories to sustain us for the long winter.
