Everyone knows about it, so I'm gonna go ahead and throw in my two cents on the South Fork. What a joke. Took my old man up there in the dark, first ones on the river. Shortly thereafter another 50 guys showed up headlamps and all marking their territory along the river. After everyone had arrived, we had 3 late teens early twenties plant themselves right in between ourselves and the 2nd person to show up that morning who was kindly 30 ft downriver from us where he should be. These clowns proceeded to cast to 9:30-10 ocklock up river, constantly over our gear, way out of their drift area, which they shouldn't have been in in the first place. It's a joke up there with how many guys are showing up now. There were 30-40 guys up there on a Monday morning after I got off of night shift, (don't people work?) I guess not. Or maybe they all do shift work like myself. Either way, the run is average at best this year for cohos. They're still killing them down low in sleds. I just can't get over the madness up there. Idk where all these guys were coming from. Sedro? It was worse than the samish. Caught two chromers. Others were pretty red. I'm out.

I was up there last weekend on an afternoon, major snag fest. Tried fishing for 30 minutes and left.

Beautiful sunrise maybe?
Somewhere there is a dude writing to his buddy... man! There were only 30/40 dudes out there and the guy next to me caught two chromers!

You should probably be down where all the sleds are 'killing them' if you expect something different out of the South fork meat hole. It's basically The Wall of the Nooksack river. However, many guys fish legit. Even those early morning guys that walk in with headlamps, like @dj2loud. He throws a single barbless on his favorite lure and catches fish. I myself have been float fishing and doing well. And if you don't want to be in the presence of flossers you can always explore the river a bit. 90% of the fishing on the south fork is in that one hole.

The South Fork hatchery was created to get all the desparate wannabe fisherman in one place, freeing up the rest of the river and real fisherman from their rude and laughable fishing tactics and methods.
Just my opinion

I had to jump on in this thread for the hell of it, I have been constantly catching chromers that are willing to bite, complain all you want about me being there before 1st light, working till 4 am has its advantages on getting out fishing.... Ya know ya dont have to catch with the flossing techniques like some use, the ol yarn and yank is what you will see, but like me throw the ol brad wiggler and hang the hell on! Not only has the wiggler been productive but so has the eggs and bobber, just some don't have a quality cure thats craved...... You will see me during the week, by 5am..... say hi.... I always do.....

Oh, were you the guys above us snagging the goofy out of the coho? Because if so, I’ve never seen someone get so much joy out of a snagged boot coho.
P.S: Did you perhaps view my float being absolutely drained below you?
P.P.S: Those fish gobbled up my eggs like there was no tomorrow
P.P.P.S: All fish caught that day were in the mouth!
