Well we hit potholes at 9 launching at the state park, the water is very low so be careful. We headed to the crab creek area to try our luck. We threw out flicker shads, slow death hook, homemade spinners and a green and yellow wallypop on bottom bouncers. We fished in 12-35 FOW with no luck on the walleye. The trout however were biting, the wallypop was the only thing catching fish. We only kept one trout, 4 lbs, 22”, that fish was pretty tasty and the meat was dark pink like a salmon. We caught and released 6 more trout sized between 13-18”. Not the best day of fishing but better than being at work. There were about 25 boats out and we didn’t see any walleye being caught, but other boats were catching trout also.

Very nice trout! Any sign of the toxic algae that has plagued this area's lakes?

T-Bone, the water was pretty clear with what I would call normal algae for this time of the year. This summer it was very nasty, but the cold weather has dissipated the algae. I called the wild life dept and they said there is no restrictions.

That was the story for us during the summer. Very few walleye but an abundance of trout. Got a couple trout about 22-26”. Don’t know what’s up with the walleye
