Bored stuck in doors as the wind pushes though a dust storm. So I send a text to a friend, Hey the wind is going to settle tonight and it just so happens I took the day off tomorrow.
Almost instantly, want to hit up Vernita?
OK, meet ya at 4am west of Spokane.
( we kept it pretty simple )
Arrived at 3:50 to see my fishing partner ready to roll.
Got to the "launch" before sunrise. took our time got the boat in, pushed our way up toward the dam. By Vernita standards, no one was there. 1st in line to launch, and no wait to pull out.
Lines get dropped in, and with in 10 mins we had a missed fish.
Not long after my friend had on a nice fish, took a nice run, swam across the surface of the water. It really put on a nice show and fight. #15
We stayed in the same general area. was not long and we had a missed bite.. awhile later a fish on and off, then our 2nd fish. A bit smaller but I was satisfied as i promised my wife salmon for dinner. ( ive quickly come home to thaw stock supply when being cocky and giving that promise )
We took out time getting out of the water, had a nice chat with the fish checker and was home before 1pm in the Spokane Valley. ( shh. my wife does not know i get under 10 MPG pulling the boat she things the salmon was a real score)
Weather was a bit chilly to start but really a nice day down on the river, little wind. sunny. Driving out the wind was pushing sandand dust across the highway father east, but very nice in Vernita.
