1st trip to hunters for the year and other than the nasty wind the fish did not disappoint.
Put in at Hunters just before sunrise, greeting by deer in the parking lot.
Condition of the docks seemed about normal for hunters.
Headed out into the wind to some of our past lucky areas, was not to long and we had the 1st fish on, however it was a few fish in before we put on in the net, and a few fish more till we had a legal fish.
We were blessed with moments of somewhat calm water, and moments of... Hmmm shall we call it a day?
We stuck it out and managed to bring 6 legal fish home, lost about 6 and released about 5 or 6 with a funny extra fin. Had many other bites that did not connect.
We found most our fish off the down riggers, 18-22 ft down. we did get a couple of surface rods.
Oh speaking of down riggers the trip was to test new down rigger plates my good friend Ben created and expertly welded on. I could not be happier with the final results, much better than my rail mount system. I suspect they will hold up to countless hours of fishing.
Back to the fishing, the wind really had no idea what it wanted to do, we skipped from one side of the river to the other trying to find shelter, mid day shelter was not going to happen and we headed back into Spokane were by the time we hit Davenport Hunters was calm in comparison.
Another fun day on Roosevelt out of Hunters with a couple of good friends.
