So I have been meaning to get up to Curlew for a while now and finally just did it.
I went Monday-Thursday and fished Monday afternoon when I got all set up. I put my rigs out as I was leaving Tiffany's resort. I started getting bites and a few smaller trout right off. I used 2 poles loaded with leaded line and put on a lake troll on one with a double whammy Macks lure with a nightcrawler on the lead hook and a wad of power bait on the other. . On the other pole, I used the big wings, not sure of the name, and an old goat lure with a super death hook with a big night crawler.
The Old Goat hit first but soon the other hit as well. I kept feeding fish and once in a while actually getting one to the boat. I did not plan on keeping any fish. I ended up keeping one keeper trout because removing the hook did to much damage to release it. All my hooks were barbless. I caught fish almost every place I fished.
I mostly use the old goat lures the 2" and the one a bit smaller and also tied up a kokanee cut plug with a jmc hook. It worked well also. I did land a really nice perch, the rest were trout.
Tiffany's resort was really nice, the staff are great. Although they do not have power to the dock I got permission to run a cord from their dock building to the dock to charge my trolling motor batteries overnight.
One other camper was in the lot and that was Ed, a musky hunter, he told me he had been there all month and caught only 3 muskies. He has fished Curlew quite a bit throughout the years and said this is the worst he had done. He did give me a few tips where to fish for them but I only tried for a couple hours one afternoon.
This lake is great if you want to come to catch lots of Trout.
I heard the bass and a perch are plentiful as well.
The weather was perfect and being fall, not many campers, and no ski boats or jet skis.
So I left Thursday morning after a few hours fishing, and topped off the trip with a double right in front of the resort, both nice fat 12" rainbows, and yes as I was releasing them I could hear my Mom saying" heck no we are not throwing those fish back that is what we come fishing for"... This is the type of fishing she loved the most. Great memories. I will return in the spring most likely.

Yes, Mike, it is so beautiful there and lots of options for camping or they have really nice cabins close to the lake. And the little store that has everything you forget to bring, I actually picked up a nice eagle claw rod and reel loaded with leaded line to replace an old one I had. You should think about doing a filming up there maybe get them on board for sponsorship.

This is a nice resort as they have nice little cabins next to the lake and they rent row boats and small motor boats as well. She did say the cabins fill up during July and August, no surprise there.

Sure had to smile reading your mother's words. My mom's too. She loved to eat fish and I loved to catch. We could seldom match our motivations as we most always catch and release. We'd come home and Mom would say, "How many fish did you catch?" We'd say "Oh, 10 or 12. "How many did you keep?" "None." "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I just don't understand why you spend all that time fishing and not keep any!" (She'd eat every one we would bring her to be sure. Depression-era Mom - waste not.) Fun memories.
