Fished Vernita 9/20-9/23. I actually was able to fish with a friend a few days that very rarely has an extra seat due to large family and friends that want to fish. Thursday we went 2 /7 (17&14#) all before 10 a.m. and I didnt get my one for a limit, but learned alot of tips and techniques from a good fisherman. They liked my deckhand skills and invited me back and I was 1st up Friday morning. I Got a jack early then Nothing until about 10 and we decided to drop deeper to 24/19 on riggers in deeper drift. These fish slammed the rod similar to an egg bite. We got these 26.4 & 18.5 back to back. Boat sat again Saturday and we went 1/3 with 15lbr and a very slow and long day. The wind and overcast seemed to really turn off the bite for us after small early bite.Friends starter went out on jet boat so we ended up calling it and towing him up river with help from another boat half way back. Fished Sunday solo and launched at 515. My plan was to do a long downhill troll with lead and then call it. After no luck I headed up to do 1 pass on downriggers and got a 14.3 lbr. These fish are strong and peel line no matter the size.. Such a fun fishery and they still cut good.
